Driving With Your Quebec Learners Permit

Once you have acquired your Quebec learners permit, as a new holder of a 5L licence you can now legally start learning how to drive and practicing your driving skills - something you should do as much as possible, if you want to become a confident and skilled driver before the next stage of the licensing process. Supervised Driving

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO TAKE THE QUEBEC DRIVING KNOWLEDGE TEST?

To take the Quebec driving knowledge test, you must be a resident of Quebec and you must provide proof that you are authorized to stay in Canada for at least 6 months if you are not a Canadian citizen.

You can start the process of getting your Class 5 learner's licence on or after your 16th birthday, but if you are under the age of 18, you must have the permission of your mother, father or legal guardian.

WHAT DOCUMENTS DO I NEED ON MY SAAQ KNOWLEDGE TEST APPOINTMENT DAY?

On the day of your SAAQ knowledge test appointment, you need to bring the following:

You can take the Quebec learners permit test at any one of the Quebec Service Outlet locations located across the province. The SAAQ website allows you to search for the nearest location to your home. The Quebec Service Outlet office will have an automated driver testing system in place.

WHAT IS THE COST OF THE QUEBEC LEARNERS PERMIT TEST?

There is a fee every time you take the Quebec Class 5 learners permit test, so if you have to re-take it you will have to pay again. By practicing with our free tests to prepare yourself, you can most likely avoid having to pay again for the real test, because you will most likely pass on your first attempt.

In order to get your actual Quebec Class 5 learner's licence, you will need to pay for your knowledge test as well as your licence permit once you pass.
