This NL beginner's permit practice exam covers all aspects of the rules of the road, and has been designed to replicate what one is likely to find on the official written NL drivers permit test. It's set up in exactly the same style as the actual exam, with multiple choice questions and four potential answers. You need to select the correct answer from these four possibilities. Just like the real test, there are no trick questions, but in some cases, some answers may seem quite similar at first glance. Therefore, examine each of the answers thoroughly before giving an answer. All of our Newfoundland Class 5 Level 1 questions have been developed from the Newfoundland and Labrador road users guide, as well as with input from recent graduates who have already completed the NL beginner's permit practice exam.
To do well on this NL beginner's permit practice exam, you need to be proficient with all the material covered in our previous rules of the road series of practice tests (these cover things like right of way, how demerit points work, railway crossings, driving in inclement weather, passing, merging and accidents). You can find Newfoundland road rules number one here: Newfoundland class 5 road rules practice test, Newfoundland road rules test number two: Newfoundland driver test and Newfoundland road rules test number three here: Newfoundland practice permit test.
In addition to the road rules, beginner drivers must be sufficiently knowledgeable about road signs. For this reason, ICanDrive.ca has developed three road sign practice tests that are also free to use as much as desired. See Newfoundland class 5 road signs practice test for regulatory signs, Newfoundland driving test online practice for temporary, information & direction, and HOV signs (high-occupancy vehicle signs), and Newfoundland drivers practice test for road warning signs. When you feel you are competent with those, challenge yourself with Newfoundland road signs practice exam.
Additional information about the Newfoundland Class 5 Level 1 knowledge test, including eligibility, documents required, test locations, the costs involved, etc. can be found on our Newfoundland Class 5 Practice and License Info section, and for all other kinds of Newfoundland driving licensing, see our Newfoundland driving licenses page.
We strive to make our Newfoundland Class 5 Level 1 learners license test questions and answers as realistic as possible.
