Getting Your Alberta Class 6 GDL (For New Drivers Only)

Your Class 6 GDL Requires On-Road Motorcycle Driving

The way the Alberta graduated motorcycle license program works, is that both new and experienced drivers are required to pass the class 6 knowledge test and class 6 road test at this level. The key difference between the two is that new drivers will enter the Alberta Class 6 GDL licence level upon successful completion of the Class 6 knowledge test and Class 6 road test, and must remain at that level for a minimum of 2 years. Experienced passenger vehicle drivers who already hold a Class 5 licence can immediately get the full motorcycle license Alberta offers once they complete the knowledge test and class 6 road test.

Class 7L (12 months) or Class 5 + Motorcycle Knowledge Test + Class 6 Road Test → Class 6 GDL
