Take a Driver's Education Course
In Nova Scotia every new driving license applicant is automatically entered in to a GDL(Graduated License System). This system has three stages which require to be completed prior to receiving a full class 5 license. During stage one, a driver has to pass a knowledge test consisting of Nova Scotia road rules and traffic signs questions. Once passed a driver will receive a Class 7 learner license which needs to be held for 6 months. This time period can be reduced to 3 months by taking a recognized driving course from driving schools in Nova Scotia. For the second stage a driver has to pass the first Nova Scotia road test and once passed the driver will receive a class 5N license. For the third stage, a driver must complete driver training course(25hours theory and 10 hours of driving on the roads or complete 6 hours of defensive driving course. After completing this training a driver is eligible to take the second road test and upon successful completion of this test a driver receives a full Class 5 license.
